CME Version info

Seems like a silly thing but I’ve never been sure how to check the exact version of CME running.  “show telephony” will do it.  I’m either overlooking something in the GUI or it’s not there.  On a particular router I’m messing with the “About” screen doesn’t show anything.  Maybe that’s broken. It’s important to be […]

VMWare ESX on a Cisco Network Module?

Could it be?  I just read this over at GigaOm and I think Allan’s missing the boat.  Now, I’m sure he’s tapped into a lot more resources than I am, but it just doesn’t seem right.  I could see Cisco wanting to see how they can help in the data center to make VMWare a […]

Broken FreePBX

I’m not sure how it happened but it would seem FreePBX didn’t install right on the RaqBuntu.  I’ve bene trying to figure out why things won’t register and calls won’t go through.  Turns out the include statements didn’t get populated into sip.conf, just as an example, so it doesn’t seem able to ever find the […]

Microsoft knows Unified Communications…sort of…

We’ve been working on becoming a Voice Ready Partner with Microsoft for a couple of months now.  We’re finally fully certified (www.ftdata.com) and I’ve learned some things about how Microsoft is approaching the market and from my perspective it looks like the Enterprise UC market is going to be very interesting in a year or […]

Deleting and re-installing Asterisk

I’ve been working on getting Asterisk running on my RaqAst (that’s what I’m calling it) Cobalt RAQ3.  For various reasons mostly relating to getting chan_sccp to work properly I’ve gone from 1.2 to 1.4 to 1.2 to 1.4.  Yeah, it’s been frustrating.  Anyway, I had a comment left on this post detailing a method of […]

Raq cloning

I picked up two Cobalt RAQs. One’s a 3 and the other is a 3i. My intention has been to use the 3 for Asterisk and the 3i for my main firewall. After all the round about with getting a usable image on one of them I wanted to see if I could just clone […]

RaqBuntu lives!

After trying to be smart about it and figure out my own way to get Ubuntu 8.04 on the RAQ3 I decided to just suck it up and follow others leads.  So, I followed Jim Tuttle’s site about getting Ubuntu 6.06 on his Qube.  The Qube and Raq are very similar as far as I […]

RaqBuntu?

Maybe not.  After poking around to find a way to recompile the AsteriskNow kernel I gave up.  rPath has a rather convoluted way (to the neophyte) of managing kernels.  So, I figured, let’s try Ubuntu following the instructions for getting Debian 3.1 to work.  I’m able to get it to Boot From Network and I […]

Decisions

I was working on the AstRaq (yes, that’s what I’m calling it) last night and I’m struggling with my limited knowledge of the guts of Linux. For a long time I’ve used TrixBox and it’s worked fine for me. I’ve been considering switching to AsteriskNow though, partly because it’ll serve my needs just as well […]
