Cisco 7945G and SIP with Asterisk

I’ve been trying to get a 7945 with SIP to work with Asterisk and it just doesn’t want to register. Turns out the SIP load of 9.2.1 is broken, at least for asterisk. I’ve reverted to 8.5.4 and it seems to be working now.

I figured this out by downloading the log from the phone, finding : Error: cc_cfg_table is null and googling for that. No one comes right out and says it’s broken but everyone having problems is running a 9.x version.

  1. Thanks for this, I have been looking for confirmation that the 9.1.1 and 9.2.1 builds of the Cisco SIP firmware would not successfully register with Asterisk, and now I have it!. FYI, this is true for the 7970 as well.

  2. I need some help with my 7945 config with broadvoice. Can you please help?
I cannot even see the packets leaving the phone. it’s been frustrating!
    My 7940 works just fine!
    Please contact me …

    1. Sorry Zen but I can’t follow up privately with anyone. Also, I haven’t used Broadvoice in years. You can certainly start with the version like in this post. If it’s not sending anything out (are you sniffing the link?) then it’s could be that.

  3. Hi

We are trying to connect Cisco 7945 to asterisk. Currently, the Cisco 7945g gets its firmware and loads the SEPxxxxxxxxxxxx.cnf.xml file and then registers with the Asterisk server.
If you pick up the hand set you get a dial tone.
    You cannot dial anything.
    Any suggestions?
